Five Tips on Getting the Most From Your Galveston Cruise.
1) Over the past several years, the debarkation Port of Galveston has seen tremendous growth. For the most part, Galveston is the favorite port for Texans that frequently cruise and for those who are cruising for the first time. Last December (2018) there were over 113,488 cruise passengers who embarked from this port, making it the busiest month since the port opened to cruises in September 2000. Since opening, there has been over 9 million cruise passenger leaving on their cruise holidays from this destination. Something must be right for this many travelers to leave from here.
2) Galveston is the debarkation port for the year-round Carnival Cruise Line. Royal Caribbean also departs from there for most of the year with Disney Cruise Lines having cruises scheduled for the Winter Holiday months. All of these ships provide full accommodations and amenities for both family and couples. Whether you are a discrete or adventurous traveler, your style of travel is available.
3) Galveston is about 45 miles from Houston. If you are planning to fly into Houston for your cruise, you have the option of either the centrally located Hobby Airport or Bush International. Most Texans save a bundle on their overall trip by driving to the port. Families from Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio don’t think twice about getting there by car. Once there, head to your reserved parking slot and have the shuttle take you right to the porters and entrance to the ship.
4) Galveston, especially for Texans, is a great place to visit either pre-or-post cruise. Exploring Galveston Island is a natural addition to a cruise vacation. Many cruisers will enjoy the island the night before and have a leisurely ride to the departure gate. On their return, transfers bask to the hotel or your car makes the Getaway a breeze.
5) The weather in Texas, especially in the winter holiday months, is quite enjoyable. There are cruise options year round allowing some families and couples to enjoy all the tastes and excitements provided by the cruise line for the holidays. Thanksgiving Dinners and Christmas Eve and Day are very special times on a cruise ship. Imagine all of the trimmings available and then cap it off with some spectacular holiday entertainment.
